Hello, I'm Andrea

I’m a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from Columbia University and an undergraduate background in Arts & Science and Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour from McMaster University.

As a psychotherapist, I am passionate about supporting children and youth as they navigate the complexities of growing up, relationships, and mental health. My experience includes providing individual and group therapy in school-based mental health settings, where I’ve supported children and teens with diverse emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs. My professional and personal experiences shape my empathetic, culturally responsive approach to supporting neurodivergent and gifted individuals.

At Acorn & Anchor, I practice using the Centre’s relational, integrative approach. I believe that building a genuine, trusting relationship is at the heart of meaningful therapy. I create a warm, collaborative, and non-judgemental therapy space where children and youth feel safe to express themselves, explore their experiences, and show up as their authentic selves.

I also draw on elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Child-Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) in my work. I tailor sessions to each individual’s unique needs, strengths, interests, and developmental stage. I believe play is a meaningful way for children to communicate their experiences, make sense of big emotions, develop self-awareness, and discover new ways to navigate challenges.

I understand that every child experiences the world differently, and I believe that therapy should reflect that. My goal is to meet each child with curiosity, compassion, and creativity, helping them feel understood while supporting them in building confidence, self-understanding, and tools that feel meaningful and accessible. I also appreciate the important role that parents and caregivers play in a child’s life and enjoy collaborating with families to support each child’s holistic well-being.

I look forward to meeting you and working together!
