Kanwar has experience working with individual kids and teens, ages 9+, and adults. He several years of experience working with GTIm, ADHD, and other complex issues. Kanwar uses a relational approach grounded in the Acorn & Anchor Model of practice.
My Background:
I completed my Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto which included a practicum/internship at Acorn & Anchor Therapy Centre.
At Acorn and Anchor I use approaches that are focused on meeting the unique needs of the individuals I see at the Centre. I work primarily with people of various ages from 9 to adults. I utilize an integrative approach in my work including a relational-focus that is strengths-based. I use a variety of evidence informed, creative tools to meet my clients needs, including elements of Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, and art/play approaches. With younger clients, I support ongoing health and wellness by exploring their own current tools of self-regulation and enhancing these areas of strength with a growth mindset.
I also support people, at their readiness level, to explore the deeper aspects of their self-identity and how past experiences, relationships, and environment have a profound impact on lifelong mental health and wellness.
I work with all clients towards reaching a balanced association with their thoughts, feelings, and personal identity.
I offer online and in-person counselling and therapy options.
