Meet Our Current University of Toronto, FIFSW M.S.W. Student-Intern

Momo Ando

I am currently in my second year of the Master of Social Work program at the University of Toronto, specializing in Social Work with Children and Families. I am completing my second-year practicum under the supervision of Michelle, here at Acorn and Anchor Therapy Centre.

I am interested in blending different modalities such as narrative, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioural in a way that suits the client’s specific needs. While using a combination of these modalities, I work from a strengths-based, client centred approach that fosters a collaborative environment to work on skills that help clients manage the difficulties in their lives. I also strive to work from an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed framework, while considering the many intersecting identities a client may have, and how these work into the obstacles he/she/they may face in life. With children and youth, I believe it is crucial to integrate engaging methods such as arts-based or play therapy into sessions to facilitate conversations around difficult topics.

I look forward to working together with you and your family towards your goals!
