Kanwar Partap-Singh

I completed my Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto which included a practicum/internship at Acorn & Anchor Therapy Centre.

I am currently working as a therapist at Acorn and Anchor using approaches that are focused on meeting the unique needs of the individuals I see at the Centre. I receive clinical support and supervision from the clinical director at AATC, Michelle L. Guy.

I work primarily with youth, young adults and adults at the Centre. I utilize a variety of modalities in my work including a relational approach with a strengths-based focus. I implement various aspects of tools to fit my clients needs including elements of Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, cognitive or dialectical behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic therapy to support people to manage the challenges of day to day life.

I believe that life experiences, relationships, and environment all have a profound impact on mental health and wellness, and self-identity. As a racialized practitioner, my approach to psychotherapy is grounded in principles of anti-oppression and social justice, and I encourage my clients to tell their stories in their own ways, and work with them towards reaching a balanced association with their thoughts, feelings, and personal identity.

I offer online and in-person counselling and therapy options on a sliding scale.

I look forward to meeting you and learning more about your story!
